■ Kenai Fine Art Center invites you to its annual Harvest Auction event Saturday at 6 p.m., with outcry auction of donated member art starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30. This auction supports the day to day functioning of the building and organization. A silent auction of member donated art is in progress prior to the event, with works currently hung at KFAC, 816 Cook Ave. in Old Town Kenai. Patrons may bid on silent auction items and view the outcry auction works Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are available at KFAC and from board members.
Events and Exhibitions
■ A First Thursday opening for “Outside the Palace, ” a collection of works by Celia Anderson, will be Oct. 6. The exhibition will hang until Oct. 28 at Kenai Fine Art Center, at 816 Cook Avenue in Old Town Kenai. ■ There will be a General Membership meeting for the Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. ■ The Kenai Performers will be holding auditions for Sudden Theatre and Sudden Theatre Jr. — a show of short, one-act, ten-minute plays — at 6 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the old PAC building located at 43335 K-Beach Road (backside of the Subway restaurant). Auditions are open to ages 8 through adult. Performance dates are November 25, 26 and 27 and December 2, 3 and 4. ■ The annual Evening of Classics fundraiser for the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra will be held at Soldotna Christ Lutheran Church on Oct. 7, at 7 p.m. Local musicians will be performing classical solo and chamber music and the Redoubt Chamber Orchestra will perform, conducted by Tammy Vollom-Matturro. Tickets are available at the door, general admission $15, and young people 18 and under are admitted free.
■ Kenai Performers present a weekly, drama club for youth in grades 7-12. ■ Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church will host its fourth annual craft bazaar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Satruday, Oct. 7–8, at 225 S. Spruce Street in Kenai across from the Kenai Little League baseball fields.
■ ARTspace Drawer is on display at the Soldotna Library, the first annual collection of locally created 2D art. The first of its kind in Alaska, this display is made possible by a partnership between Soldotna Rotary, ARTspace Inc., and the Soldotna Public Library.
■ “Inspired By Books” is an exhibit comprised of 17 art quilts by 5 artists based on three books and will be on display the month of September at the Homer Council on the Arts building, 355 W. Pioneer in Homer. Business hours are Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m. and on second Saturday of each month.

■ The Vagabond Inn at Mile 14.1 Kalifornsky Beach Road has live music with Hot Mess (formerly Tuff-E-Nuff) Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. Both nights are non-smoking shows.
■ The Kasilof Pinochle Club is now organizing for a winter of fun playing pinochle. The club’s first meeting will be held at noon on Oct. 8 at the Caribou Family Restaurant in Soldotna. This meeting will be to organize teams followed by a tournament with a $5 entry fee. Regular season play will begin at noon on Oct. 15. Bring a partner if you have one, but if you don’t have a partner the club will find one for you. The season runs from Oct. 8 through April 15, 2017. ■ The Pratt Museum is excited to extend an open call to artists of any level or medium. Have you ever kept a diary or journal? Had the opportunity to peruse the personal writing or your ancestors? Several diaries and journals are held in the collections of the Pratt Museum: their stories range from weather reports and moose sightings to extended narrative and personal reflection. Oftentimes, the written word leaves much to be imagined, and could serve as a jumping-off point for something more. The Pratt Museum is extending a call for works of art in any medium, inspired by personal diaries or journals. Artwork may be submitted from Oct. 25-Nov. 11.
