The visiting Soldotna softball team defeated Homer 15-1 in four innings Tuesday in Northern Lights Conference play.
The Stars move to 8-1 in the league and 17-6-1 overall, while the Mariners drop to 1-7 in the league and 5-16 overall.
Isabelle Cruz and Tatum Cooper combined to shut down the Mariners bats.
Cruz went the first 4 2-3 innings, giving up an unearned run on a hit while walking one and striking out six. Cooper recorded the last out without incident.
The Soldotna offense pounded out 15 hits and scored eight runs in the first inning to take control of the game.
Alyssa McDonald was 4 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs to lead SoHi, while Kacey Cunningham was 2 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs.
Also, Izzy Jones was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI, while Aliya Blough was 2 for 4 with a run and two RBIs.
Isabella Gares had two runs and two RBIs, while Cooper and Cruz each scored twice.
Keagan Niebuhr went all four innings for Homer, giving up 15 runs — 12 earned — on 14 hits.
Niebuhr had the lone hit for Homer. Natalie Farren came in as a courtesy runner after the Niebuhr double and scored.
