Tuesday: Kenai hockey tops Homer

The Kenai Central hockey team defeated Homer 11-1 on Tuesday in Northern Lights Conference action at Kevin Bell Ice Arena in Homer.

The Kardinals improve to 10-9 overall and 4-2 in the league, while the Mariners fall to 1-14 overall and 1-7 in the league.

The Kards opened up a 2-0 gap after one period and 9-0 gap after two periods.

Avery Martin led Kenai with a hat trick, while Sawyer Vann and Logan Mese had two goals, and Gavin Liles, Everett Chamberlain, Cameron Schwinn and Isaac Potton added tallies.

Austin Pitzman found the back of the net on the power play for the Mariners in the third period.

Seanna Swanson made eight saves for Kenai, while Reace Brothers stopped 21 for the Mariners.

Kenai travels to play Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale on Friday, Jan. 24, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8:30 a.m.
