The boys won behind a pair of goals from Sawyer Vann and a shutout from Bradley Morrison.

Kenai head coach Shane Lopez said in a text message that Dakota Wisnewski had a great game defensively, and Carson Grimm did a great job distributing in the midfield.

The visiting Stars notched a nonconference victory over Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale to move to 5-4 overall.

The Crimson Bears were, like the Stars, a Division II team last season. After combining with Thunder Mountain, Juneau is now Division I.

The score was tied at 1 after the first half, with Jazzalynn McDonald scoring on an assist from Sadie Lane for Soldotna.

Jillian Duncan had the game-winner in the second half for Soldotna.

Juneau boys 3, Soldotna 0

The visiting Stars fell to 7-3 with the loss to the Crimson Bears.

SoHi head coach Erik Dolphin said in a text message that his squad had to get up at 4 a.m., drive to Anchorage, then fly to Juneau and play that same day.

“They are good,” Dolphin wrote. “We had some chances. 1-0 at the half. Luke (Hillyer) kept us in the game with some crazy saves.”

Redington boys 8, Nikiski 0

The host Huskies dropped the Bulldogs to 0-4 overall Thursday.

Nikiski coach Horst Haunold wrote in a text message that his team played like they had on concrete legs in the first half, but that the second half was better.

Haunold wrote that bright spots for the team were Emily Brannen in goal, and Jaxson Young, Shane Hall, Dylan Hall and Jayden Anderson at midfield at midfield.
