Soldotna track and field teams sweep Homer Invite

The Soldotna girls and boys track and field teams swept the Homer Invitational on Saturday in Homer.

The Soldotna boys scored 112 points to top runner-up Wasilla’s 93. Also from the Kenai Peninsula, Homer was fourth, Kenai was fifth, Seward was ninth, Cook Inlet Academy was 10th and Nikiski was 11th.

On the girls side, the Stars dominated with 137 points, while runner-up Colony had 67.5. Also from the area, Homer was fifth, Seward was seventh, Kenai was ninth and Nikiski was 10th.

The Stars were led by Dylan Dahlgren, who won the shot put and discus. Leigh Tacey II won at 200 meters, while Nate Johnson took the 400. Johnson also anchored the 1,600-meter relay to victory, with help from Wyatt Faircloth, James Innes and Tacey II.

Seamus McDonough had a giant meet for the Mariners, winning the 800, 1,600 and 3,200. Also for Homer, Aiden Brost won the 110 hurdles.

Also from the peninsula, Seward’s Tommy Cronin got a victory in the triple jump.

For the SoHi girls, the 400 relay of Mandi Sisley, Gracie Bras, Angelina Chavarria and Katelyn Morrison, and the 1,600 relay of Annie Burns, Ellie Burns, Kaytlin McAnelly and Jordan Strausbaugh, both notched victories.

Soldotna also received victories from Adara Hagelund in the high jump and Katelyn Morrison in the triple jump.

Also from the area, Kenai’s Malena Grieme scored a victory in the long jump and Nikiski’s Rylee Ellis ran to victory in the 800 meters.
