Soldotna girls 1st, Seward boys 2nd at Mountain City Wrestling Invite

The Soldotna girls wrestling team won the Mountain City Wrestling Invite on Friday and Saturday at Mountain City Christian Academy in Anchorage.

The Stars scored 174 points, while Bethel was next with 105. Also from the Kenai Peninsula, Homer was 11th with 56, Kenai was 22nd with 31, Nikiski was 23rd with 30 and Seward was 35th with nine.

Winning titles for the Stars were Jessica LeClair at 100 and Daisy Hannevold at 138. Also placing for Soldotna were Valarie McAnelly in second at 107, Kaytlin McAnelly in second at 132, Alyssa McDonald in fourth at 165, Meg Roberts in fourth at 235 and Rowan Peck in fifth at 126.

Saoirse Cook won a title for Homer at 126, while Roane Cook was second at 185.

For Kenai, Jenna Yeoman was second at 152. Paisley Maxwell (107) and Elliana Isabell (165) were sixth for Nikiski.

Seward boys take 2nd at Mountian City Wrestling Invite

The Seward boys wrestling team took second at the Mountain City Wrestling Invite.

Bethel won with 196 points, while the Seahawks had 161. Also from the peninsula, Nikiski was fourth with 151, Homer was eighth with 113 and Kenai was ninth with 105.5.

Taking championships for the Seahawks were Tommy Jarnig at 103 and Hunter Forshee-Kurtz at 130. Also placing were Aidan Schilling in second at 119, Ridge Conant in third at 112, Alejandro Sanchez in third at 135, Anthony Smith in third at 140 and Emery Kirchner in fourth at 112.

For Nikiski, Mayaac Schmit was second at 285, Rex Wittmer was third at 285, Truit McCaughey was third at 215, Frank St. Denis was fifth at 152, Robert Isabel was sixth at 171 and Sam Yerkes was sixth at 160.

Justus Grimes won a title for Homer at 135. Also for the Mariners, Paul Minke was second at 145, Luca Fitzpatrick was third at 103 and Brayden Woods was third at 152.

For Kenai Central, Daniel Steffensen won a title at 140. Also, Jaxson Young was fourth at 125 and Keagan Stanley was fourth at 152.
