SoHi gets 2 individual wins, 4 relay wins at Big C Relays; Seward’s Liljemark wins high jump

The Soldotna track and field team took two individual titles and four relay titles, while Seward nabbed an individual title, at the 14th annual Russ Edwards Big C Relays at The Dome in Anchorage on Friday and Saturday.

The massive meet had individual events in the range of 70 entries and relay events with 20 to 30 teams.

For Soldotna, Tyce Escott ran a personal record of 11.09 seconds in the 100-meter dash to win the Life Med Alaska Fastest Alaskan. Escott was the first from SoHi to win the 100 meters at the Big C Relays.

Also for the Stars, Wyatt Faircloth won the 300 hurdles in 41.82 and was second in the 110 hurdles at 15.43.

Seward’s Olin Liljemark gave the Kenai Peninsula its other individual crown by leaping 5 feet, 10 inches, to take the high jump.

SoHi got relay wins from the boys 400, coed Swedish medley, boys 1,600 and girls sprint medley.

The boys 400 of Escott, Faircloth, James Innes and Brendon Jones won at 43.74 to set a new school and meet record.

The mixed Swedish (100, 200, 300, 400) team of Sarah Brown, Escott, Sophia Jedlicki and Innes set a meet and school record by running 2:08.92.

The boys 1,600 of Ethan Anding, Faircloth, Innes and Jones won at 3:32.24.

The girls sprint medley (200, 200, 400, 800) of Shiloh Zichko, Brown, Annie Burns and Jedlicki won at 4:26.20.

Also in the top six as individuals for the Stars were Juliet Innes in third in the discus at 112—11, Anaulie Sedivy in fifth in the 300 hurdles at 49.30, Kenai Lepule in sixth in the shot put at 44—6 and Shiloh Zichko in sixth in the 400 at 1:01.02.

The Stars had three other relays finish second.

The girls 1,600 of Zichko, Burns, Brown and Jedlicki was second at 4:09.81, the girls sprint medley (100, 100, 200, 400) of Emma Glassmaker, Mia Hannevold, Lucy Uhlir and Sasha Brott was second in 1:57.45, and the girls distance medley (1,200, 400, 800, 1,600) of Burns, Jedlicki, Brott and Katie DeBardelaben was second in 13:30.25.

Also, the girls 400 of Glassmaker, Zichko, Hannevold and Uhlir was third in 52.53 and the boys sprint medley (200, 200, 400, 800) of Demari Adams, Paxton Roach, Michael Davidson and Ollie Dahl was sixth in 3:59.17.

In top-six performances for Homer, Johannes Bynagle was fourth in the 800 at 2:01.76 and third in the 3,200 at 10:03.42. Also, Jaelynn Kennon was fifth in the high jump at 4—8.

Gracie Miotke was fourth in the 300 hurdles at 49.01, while the girls 1,600 relay of Brightly Thoning, Beatrix McDonough, Maddy Miotke and Gracie Miotke was fifth in 4:15.38.

Also for the Mariners, the boys distance medley of Caleb Bunker, Jude Rozeboom, Tait Ostrom and Jai Badajos was sixth in 11:46.57.

Kenai Central was led by the mixed Swedish relay of Sophie Tapley, Aidan Jackman, Bryleigh Williams and Gage Ivy taking seventh in 2:23.07.

SoHi hockey won the End of the Road tournament in Homer and the wrestling team gained 20 individual wins.
