Ski teams to return to action

The four high school ski teams will be back in action Saturday.

Kenai Central and Seward will have a dual meet at the Kenai Nordic Trails at Kenai Golf Course.

The meet will have skiers starting at one-minute interval times, and Seward and Kenai skiers will ski at different times of day, according to an email from Kenai Central athletic director Jesse Settlemyer.

Kenai skiers will compete at 11 a.m., while Seward skiers will ski at 1 p.m. The race is not open to the general public due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instead, each racer will get two spectators.

Homer and Soldotna also will do a dual meet at Ohlson Mountain outside of Homer on Saturday. Homer athletic director Chris Perk did not yet have full details of that meet.

These will be the first major competitions for Kenai Peninsula prep sports since the Kenai Peninsula Swimming Championships on Nov. 14.
