The Seward nine-man football team defeated Valdez 78-0 on Saturday at Roger Steinbrecher Memorial Field at Seward High School.
The Seahawks moved to 1-1 in the league and 4-1 overall, while Valdez fell to 0-3 and 0-5.
In other nine-man action Saturday, the Student Wrestling Development Program defeated Monroe Catholic 42-0 to move to 3-0 in the league and 5-0 overall. The Rams fell to 1-1 and 2-3.
Nikiski, which is 1-1 in the league and 1-3 overall, had a bye week. The Bulldogs travel to take on the Seahawks at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26.
Seward head coach Tyler Mallory said the Seahawks were able to pull the starters after the first quarter against the Buccaneers. He said the team executed well.
“Just proud of our number 2 guys,” Mallory wrote. “They played hard the whole time and kept the shutout while putting up points.
“It was cool to see them all play well and hard.”
