The host Seward nine-man football team defeated Valdez 68-8 on Saturday in nonconference play. The game was called at halftime.
In the first quarter, Emerson Cross threw touchdown passes to Lane Petersen and Micah Brueckner, plus Cross and Cam Schrock had a touchdown run, and Cai Turner had two touchdown runs.
Seward coach Tyler Mallory, whose team is 3-0, said he pulled the starters after the first quarter. Valdez is 0-2.
When the backups were in, Chiron Cross had two touchdown runs and another through the air.
Seward jumps into Denali Conference play Satruday, Sept. 6, by traveling to Interior Grappling Academy at 1 p.m.,while Valdez is at Nikiski at noon Saturday. The Bulldogs will be coming off a bye and are 0-2.
