The Kenai Central and Soldotna girls soccer teams finished off sweeps of three-game nonconference road trips Saturday.
After defeating Grace Christian on Thursday and Palmer on Friday, the Kardinals defeated Houston 12-1 on Saturday to improve to 9-2 overall.
Brynnen Hanson had three goals, while Tait Cooper, Sarah Baisden and Kate Wisnewski each had two. Lylah Smith, Christine Goering and Evelyn Cooper added tallies.
The Stars topped Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale on Thrusday and Ketchikan on Friday before topping the Kings 3-2 on Saturday to move to 7-4 overall.
Sadie Lane got the scoring started for the Stars 34 minutes into the first half on an assist from Alyssa McDonald.
In the 38th minute, McDonald scored with help from Jillian Duncan and Lane. Lane finished off the scoring with a penalty kick in the 66th minute.
Lane had also scored twice in the Friday victory over Ketchikan.
Kenai boys 3, Houston 0
The visiting Kardinals got a shutout from Bradley Morrison in the nonconference matchup to move to 7-4-2 overall.
Ryker Dykema had a pair of goals, while Sawyer Vann also found the back of the net. Assists went to Reid Titus, Brett Goldsby and Vann.
Kenai head coach Shane Lopez wrote in a text message that Enrique Mercado controlled the midfield and Dakota Wisnewski did an incredible job defending Houston’s strongest, fastest player.
Ketchikan boys 3, Soldotna 2
After the visiting Stars had come back from two goals down in the nonconference game, the Kings scored in second half stoppage time to drop SoHi to drop to 8-4 overall.
Ketchikan led 2-0 at halftime. In the 48th minute, Simon Willets scored a penalty kick for the Stars. In the 67th minute, Daniel Heath tied it for SoHi when he headed in a free kick from goalie Luke Hillyer.
In stoppage time, a shot deflected off a SoHi defender and into the goal to give the Kings the win.
“They deserved to win, but our guys fought super hard,” SoHi head coach Erik Dolphin wrote in a text message.
Palmer boys 13, Nikiski 0
The host Bulldogs ended a three-game trip with a nonconference loss that puts them at 0-5.
“The team gave it 100% effort,” Nikiski head coach Horst Haunold wrote in a text message. “It’s been a long three days.”
Haunold said the squad played its heart out against a dominant Palmer team.
He wrote Dylan Hall was player of the game for his effort in goal, while Jayden Anderson and Frank Nasibog held strong on defense against a relentless Palmer attack.
