Saturday hoops: Soldotna sweeps Seward

The visiting Soldotna girls and boys basketball teams notched a nonconference sweep over Seward on Saturday.

The Soldotna girls won 55-39 to move to 10-12 overall and drop the Seahawks to 12-5. The Stars jumped to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter and 36-14 lead at halftime.

Katelyn Morrison had 15 for the Stars, including 14 in the first half. Josie Sheridan added 11, Tanner Inman had seven, Kaytlin McAnelly had six, Brooke Walters, Annie Burns and Alyssa McDonald had four, and Anaulie Sedivy had two.

For Seward, Lena Jagielski had 16, Hailey Ingalls had nine, Ava Jagielski and Robin Cronin had six and Renee Elhard had two.

The Soldotna boys topped Seward 67-46 to move to 7-14 overall and drop the Seahawks to 7-9 overall. Seward had a 16-13 lead after the first quarter, but SoHi led 30-20 at the half and 48-28 after three quarters.

Izaiah Gilbert paced the Stars with 17, while Andrew Pieh had 16, Eli Corbett had 12, Will Inman had six, Owen Buckbee, Cameron Laroque and Jakob Brown had four and Zac Buckbee had one.

For Seward, Ozzy Deel had 13, Nick Ambrosiani had 10, Bergen Davis had seven, Ben Ambrosiani and Kupono Albino had five, Van Shank had two and Emerson Cross had one.

Sitka girls 38, Kenai 34

The visiting Kardinals dropped to 11-10 with the nonconference loss to the Wolves.

Sitka boys 40, Kenai 35

The visiting Kardinals dropped to 11-9 overall with the nonconference loss to the Wolves.

Grace girls 63, Homer 20

The visiting Mariners dropped to 2-5 in the Class 3A Peninsula Conference and 7-14 overall with the loss to the Grizzlies.

Grace boys 68, Homer 26

The visiting Mariners fell to 2-5 in the Class 3A Peninsula Conference and 3-18 overall with the loss to the Grizzlies.
