Saturday hoops: Seward notches sweep in Homer

The visiting Seward girls notched a 38-30 victory over Homer on Saturday in Peninsula Conference play.

The Seahawks improved to 2-0 in the league and 3-1 overall. Homer is 1-1 and 2-3.

For the Seahawks, Robin Cronin pumped in 18 points, while Ava Jagielski pitched in 11. Also, Natalie Sieminski had 4, Stella Dow had 3 and Lia Shank had 2.

Sydney Shelby had 11 points for Homer, while Channing Lowney and Juliann Techie had 6, Keagan Niebuhr had 4 and Gracie Miotke had 3.

Seward boys 64, Homer 54

The visiting Seahawks topped the Mariners on Saturday in Peninsula Conference action.

The Seahawks improved to 2-0 in the league and 4-0 overall, while Homer drops to 1-1 and 1-4.

Twins Nick Ambrosiani and Ben Ambrosiani had 18 for Seward, while Bergen Davis had 12. Also, Emerson Cross had 8, Talon Lemme had 6 and Van Shank had 2.

For Homer, Spencer Dye had 18, while CJ Burns had 13, Lucas Story had 9, Nathan Overson had 6, Einar Pederson had 4, and Riley Huffman and Justice Davidson each had 2.

Soldotna girls 56, Kodiak 13

The Stars finished a weekend Northern Lights Conference sweep in Kodiak on Saturday. SoHi is 2-0 and 5-3.

For the Stars, Hope Hillyer led the way with 19 points, while Kaytlin McAnelly had 10. Also, Juliet Innes and Morgan Lemm had 6, Anaulie Sedivy had 4, Sarah Brown had 3, and Grayson Henry, Brooke Walters, Isabelle Cruz and Alyssa McDonald had 2 apiece.

For Kodiak, Mary Ash had 5, Louise Guevarra had 3, Lakisha Sanchez and Mizzy Arbues each had 2, and Angeli Doctolero had 1.

Soldotna boys 71, Kodiak 48

The Stars avenged a Friday loss to the Bears in a big way with Saturday’s Northern Lights Conference victory. SoHi moved to 1-1 in the league and 3-2 overall.

Izaiah Gilbert poured in 32 points to pace the Stars, while Easton Hawkins had 17 and Andrew Pieh pitched in 16. Also, Zac Buckbee, Cameron Laroque and Theo Huff had 2 apiece.

For Kodiak, Mac Abellera and Aron Paguio each had 14, while Liam Danelski had 8, Antonio Basuel and Kelly Ticman each had 4 and Martin Canaveral had 3.

Glennallen girls 54, CIA 14

Cheyenne Fields had 20 points, including 18 in the first quarter, to lead the visiting Panthers to victory in nonconference action Saturday.

The Eagles dropped to 0-6 overall.

For the Eagles, Ella Rollman had 9, while Rebekah Dillingham had 3 and Maria Smith had 2.

CIA boys 79, Glennallen 59

The host Eagles notched a nonconference victory Saturday over the Panthers. CIA moves to 4-2 overall.

For the Eagles, Ian McGarry had 25, Alek McGarry had 19, Brady Baeten had 13, Jeremiah Dillingham had 8, Jonas Oyoumick and Brandt Rollman had 5, and Trent Waller and Owen Braband had 2.

Jed Jacobsen paced Glennallen with 20.

Sports briefs: Soldotna hockey, wrestling teams secure wins at weekend tournaments

SoHi hockey won the End of the Road tournament in Homer and the wrestling team gained 20 individual wins.

The Kenai Central High School varsity volleyball team is named the 2025 3A Volleyball State Championship Tournament, held Nov. 13-15, 2025, at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
