Running roundup: Items on Lindquist, Ostrander, Hope Wagon Trail Run, Skinny Raven Half

Ruby Lindquist, a 2018 graduate of Seward High School, was recently named to the short trail team for Team USA at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships, which will be held in September in Spain.

According to the Alaska Sports Report, Lindquist, 25, was added to the field due to strong performances against deep fields. She will race 27.3 miles in Spain.

Lindquist will be joined by Alaskans Tracen Knopp (long trail), Klaire Rhodes (long trail) and David Norris (classic mountain) at the event.

Norris holds the course record at the Mount Marathon Race in Seward and won July 4 for the sixth win in six tries. Rhodes won her second straight title on the same day.

Team USA also includes Allie McLaughlin (classic mountain). McLaughlin set the Mount Marathon course record in her only appearance in 2022.

Ostrander opens track season with victory

Allie Ostrander, a 2015 graduate of Kenai Central and now a pro runner living in Boulder, Colorado, opened her track season with a victory in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stumptown Twilight meet on Saturday, July 19.

Ostrander ran 9 minutes, 35.11 seconds, to best the other two competitors in the race.

In a video on her YouTube channel that had been viewed 41,000 times as of Wednesday, Ostrander said she was surprised to find the race only had three people.

She still was happy with the opener to her track season, saying it showed she needs to work on hurdles and barriers.
