Soldotna’s Marc Dixson was the top male survivor at the Alaska Men’s Run on Saturday in Anchorage.
According to the event, the race uses entry fees to fund educational activities, health awareness, promote early detection, and provide financial aid to men and agencies fighting prostate and testicular cancer.
In the 5-mile men’s race at Kincaid Park, Dixson finished 33rd overall with a time of 51 minutes, 57 seconds.
Also from the peninsula in the men’s race, Kenai’s Jason Parks was third in 28:00 and Soldotna’s Peter Cannava was 32nd in 49:50.
Sterling’s Aldridge wins duathlon state title
Morgan Aldridge, 43, won the sprint duathlon at the Eagle River Triathlon in Chugiak on Sunday. The Eagle River Triathlon doubles as the USA Triathlon State Championships.
Aldridge was the only woman and the overall winner in the race of five. The race was a 1-mile run, followed by a 20-kilometer bike ride, followed by a 5-kilometer run.
Aldridge was in second place after the initial run, but led by more than 6 minutes by the time she got off the bike. She then had the fastest 5K of anyone in the field.
She finished at 1:20:46, with Michael Sheffield in second at 1:28:10.
