Peninsula seniors play in AABC All-Star Games

Ninilchik’s four seniors were back together again Saturday at the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Senior All-Star Games at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex in Anchorage.

Tyler Presley, Dalton Geppert, Matthew Bartolowits and Austin White, who helped lead the Wolverines to Class 1A state titles the past two seasons, played on the gold team in the Class 1A/2A boys game, which also had Ninilchik’s Nick Finley as a coach. The four Wolverines players were joined by fellow Peninsula Conference player Nikit Fefelov of Nikolaevsk.

The game went to overtime, with the blue team pulling out a 103-94 victory.

White tied for team-high scoring honors at 16, and also pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds. Presley had nine points and seven rebounds, while Bartolowits had 11 points and two rebounds, Fefelov had seven points and seven rebounds, and Geppert had five points and six rebounds.

In the Class 3A/4A girls game, Nikiski seniors Avery Kornstad and Brianna Vollertsen played on the gold team, with Nikiski’s Scott Anderson serving as one of the coaches. The gold team pulled off a 71-64 victory.

Kornstad finished with three points and six rebounds, while Vollertsen had a point and five rebounds.

In the Class 3A/4A boys game, Kenai Central senior Josh Jackman played for the gold team. The blue team notched a 116-104 victory, with Jackman netting 13 points and four rebounds.

In the Class 1A/2A girls game, Nikolaevsk senior Vera Fefelov played for the gold team, which rolled to a 96-64 victory. Fefelov had four points and two rebounds.
