The Peninsula Oilers continued their road trip by losing to the Anchorage Bucs 5-1 on Friday before defeating the Chugiak Chinooks 10-5 on Saturday.

At Lee Jordan Field on Saturday, Peninsula hit three home runs in rolling past the Chinooks.

Mason Posey got the win for the Oilers, going seven innings and giving up two runs on six hits while walking four and striking out five. Nolan Patterson finished with three runs in two innings on three hits.

The Oilers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when John Olmstead and Garrett Pennington singled with two outs to put runners on first and third. Dylan Ditzenberger then singled to score Olmstead.

The Oilers then tacked on four more runs in the third inning. Olmstead started the inning with a double, then Pennington launched a two-run homer. Ditzenberger then was hit by a pitch before Bryce Marsh launched a two-run homer of his own to chase Chinooks starter and loser Carson Cody, who gave up five runs and seven hits in two innings.

The Chinooks got a run back in the sixth, but the Oilers responded in the top of the seventh.

Bryce Marsh started the inning by getting hit by a pitch, then after an out Andrew Sojka lifted a two-run home run.

Henry Novicki kept the rally going with a walk, then Cole Moore and Trevor Antonson singled to load the bases. Olmstead then singled in Novicki and Pennington hit a sacrifice fly to score Moore. Ditzenberger then finished off the rally by singling in Antonson for a 10-1 lead.

Chugiak made the final score look better by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh and three runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Moore finished 3 for 6, while Olmstead was 3 for 6 with two runs, Pennington was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Ditzenberger was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Friday, the Oilers dropped a 5-1 decision to the Bucs.

Starter and loser Ben Briggs ran into trouble in the fourth inning, allowing the Bucs to take a 4-0 lead. Briggs worked three innings and gave up six hits and four runs — two earned — while walking one and striking out one.

Dylan Crowley allowed an unearned run on three hits in three innings, while Lee Atkinson finished with two scoreless and hitless innings for the Oilers.

William Kempner dazzled for the Bucs, throwing seven shutout innings to get the win. Kempner gave up just four hits while fanning seven and walking one. Jadon Berkovich pitched the final two innings and gave up a run on a hit.

The Oilers got their lone run with two outs in the ninth inning when Bryce Marsh homered. The shot helped the Oilers narrowly escape getting shut out for the second straight night. Marsh finished 2 for 4 for the Oilers.

The Oilers continue the road trip with a 4 p.m. game today against the Mat-Su Miners at Hermon Brothers Field and a 7 p.m. game Monday against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Mulcahy Stadium.
