The Ninilchik girls basketball team defeated the host Kenai Central junior varsity 40-37 on Monday. The Kardinals took an early lead, but the Wolverines came back in the third quarter to tie the game, then pulled ahead for the win.
Ninilchik was tuning up for a big Peninsula Conference clash at Nikolaevsk on Wednesday. The girls play at 5 p.m., while the boys play at 6:30 p.m.
