Luke Hillyer, Wisnewski named Peninsula Conference soccer players of year

Kenai’s Siemers, Homer’s Jeffres get Coaches of Year

Soldotna goalie Luke Hillyer and Kenai Central defensive midfielder Kate Wisnewski were named Players of the Year in All-Peninsula Conference voting announced this week.

Both players led their teams to Peninsula Conference titles. The Soldotna boys were 6-0 in the league, while the Kardinals and Stars girls both had 3-1 records, but Kenai won the tiebreaker.

The Kenai boys were second, while the Homer boys were third and Nikiski was fourth. For the girls, Homer was third.

The Coaches of the Year went to a pair of first-year coaches. Homer’s Tyler Jeffres won the boys award, while Jeff Siemers earned the award for the girls.
