The Kenai Central volleyball team defeated Nikiski for the Southeast Super Slamma Jamma Volleyball Tournament title Saturday at Mt. Edgecumbe High School in Sitka.
In the finals of the King Salmon Division, the Kardinals notched a 13-25, 25-22 and 15-6 decision in a rematch of the 2024 Class 3A state final, which was won by Nikiski.
Gracee Every furnished 19 assists and two aces for the Kardinals, while Sage Wilson had two aces, Bryleigh Williams had five kills and five blocks, Sophie Tapley had 13 kills and two blocks, and Savannah Hershberger had 19 digs.
For the Bulldogs in the final, Mandee Roofe had seven kills and three blocks, Blakeley Jorgensen had seven kills, Milly and Emma Hornung each had three aces, Milly Hornung had 17 assists and Abby White had 14 digs.
In the first round of the tournament, Nikiski defeated Sitka 25-20, 23-25 and 15-10, while Kenai topped Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale 25-19, 21-25 and 15-12.
In round-robin play Friday, both Nikiski and Kenai finished 12-2.
The Bulldogs defeated Kotzebue 25-11, 25-23, defeated Bethel 25-16, 25-13, split with Sitka with a 25-21 win and 25-21 loss, split with Juneau-Douglas: Yadaa.at Kale with a 25-20 win and 25-21 loss, defeated Ketchikan 25-15, 25-20, defeated Kenai 25-22, 25-15 and defeated Nikiski 25-22, 25-21.
The Kardinals defeated Juneau 25-9, 25-23, defeated Mt. Edgecumbe 25-16, 25-15, defeated Kotzebue 25-15, 25-11, defeated Sitka 25-19, 25-19, defeated Ketchikan 25-14, 25-15, and defeated Bethel 25-14, 25-13.
The Bulldogs host Homer on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 5 p.m. Both Kenai and Nikiski then play at the West Spiketacular in Anchorage on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27.

The visiting Seahawks pulled off a Southcentral Conference victory Friday. The scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21.
Alysha Nyvall and Almalinda Norman had big service games for the Mariners, with Nyvall getting 14 points and three aces, and Norman collecting 18 points and three aces.
Swift Blackstock had 15 kills for Homer, while Reilly Sue Baker had 11 and Jaelynn Kennon had nine. Nyvall had 29 assists.
Madalyn Miotke and Kennon both had three solo blocks, while Piper Fuchs had 21 digs, Nyvall had 17 digs and Baker had 16 digs.
