Homer softball topples Soldotna

The Homer softball team defeated Soldotna 26-17 in six innings Tuesday at the Soldotna Little League fields in the season and Northern Lights Conference openers for both teams.

The Mariners led 8-2 after 2 1-2 innings, but SoHi grabbed a 15-10 lead after five innings. Homer was then able to break through for 16 runs in the sixth inning, and the Stars scored two in the bottom of the sixth.

For Homer, Ariana Davis was 2 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, Layla Triem had two runs and two RBIs, Julie Guess was 2 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs, Becca Trowbridge was 3 for 4 with four runs, Alaiyah Brost was 4 for 4 with four runs, Emily Owens was 4 for 4 with three runs and five RBIs, Charlotte Fraley had three runs and two RBIs, Keagan Niebuhr was 2 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs, and Lexy Sweeney had two RBIs.

For SoHi, Kiara Forkner was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Isabelle Cruz had two runs, Brook Fischer was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, Alyssa McDonald was 2 for 4 with four runs, Miah Mead had two runs, Juliet Innes was 2 for 3 with three runs and Makynzi Deborski was 2 for 2 with two runs.
