The visiting Stars moved 3-0 in the Northern Lights Conference and 6-0 overall with the 25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 22-25 and 15-13 win.
Soldotna head coach Luke Baumer said his team played the best defense he’s seen the Stars play in his head coaching career in the first two sets.
Palmer then started the third set with an eight-point serving run and Baumer said that put the Stars on their heels.
“They managed to shake the nerves off and were able to pull off the fifth set,” he said.
The Moose attacked setter Teagen Kobylarz, who had 30 digs and 39 assists. Morgan Simac had 20 kills, while Cassidy Kruse had 16 kills and nine blocks. Gracelyn Altobelli had six aces.
The same two squads play at Palmer at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. With two matches in Kodiak, last weekend, plus a midweek match against Homer, Baumer said his squad is in a mentally and physically demanding stretch, but he likes how the Stars are handling it.
