Friday baseball: SoHi, Kenai, Homer all win

The visiting Division II Soldotna baseball team defeated Division I Colony 1-0 on Friday in nonconference play.

The Stars are 13-3 overall.

Trenton Ohnemus went the distance for the Stars, giving up just four hits and three walks in shutting out the Knights. Ohnemus punched out 15 in throwing 74 of 115 pitches for strikes.

The lone run for SoHi came on an Andrew Pieh home run. Derrick Jones, Wyatt Gagnon and Tucker Blough also had hits for the Stars.

The visiting Kardinals notched a Friday Northern Lights Conference victory to move to 8-3 overall and 6-3 in the league.

The game was tied at 3 after three innings, but Kenai went ahead 4-3 after the fourth and 10-7 after the sixth inning.

Gabe Smith went 5 2-3 innings for the Kards, giving up seven runs — six earned — on five hits while walking four and striking out four. Jacob Joanis pitched a scoreless and hitless 1 1-3 innings.

Zane Pellegrom was 3 for 6 with two runs, while Jacob Joanis scored twice, Gabe Smith was 2 for 6 with two RBIs, Brandon Blake had two runs, Everett Chamberlain had two runs and three walks, and Jackson Marion was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Homer 11, Redington 6

The visiting Mariners won in the Northern Lights Conference on Friday to move to 5-4 in the league and 6-8 overall.

Homer led 4-2 after the fourth inning, but Redington went up 5-4 after the fifth. The Mariners then scored four in the sixth and three in the seventh to secure the win.

Camden Wise, Preston Stanislaw, Oak Anderson and Clyde Clemens all had two runs for Homer. Jayden Sims had two RBIs.

Stanislaw allowed five runs on four hits in four innings, while Sims allowed a unearned run in a hitless two innings, and Wise pitched a scoreless and hitless inning.
