Luke Hause, a former defenseman for the Kenai River Brown Bears, announced his commitment this week to Division I Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York.
“I am very blessed and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at Long Island University,” Hause wrote on Instagram. “I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, family, coaches, teammates, and friends who have helped me along the way.”
Hause played for the Brown Bears for three years.
He joined the team for the 2022-23 season and had seven assists in 46 games.
He played 53 games for the team in 2023-24, registering five goals and 16 assists.
Hause served as the captain for the Bears last season, playing in 46 games and notching eight goals and 20 assists.
Defenseman Trent Powell of Soldotna completed his freshman season for the Sharks in 2024-25.
Powell had two goals and 11 assists for the Sharks, who finished 20-12-2 for the most wins in program history. This will be the sixth season for the Sharks. LIU also led the NCAA in home ice victories at 14-1-0.
Brett Riley, the inaugural head coach for the Sharks program, left for Ferris State University in the offseason.
Brendan Riley, who spent four seasons on the staff at American International College, takes over as LIU head coach.
