Class 1A Peninsula Conference to take place at Cook Inlet Academy from Thursday to Saturday

The Class 1A Peninsula Conference tournament will be held at Cook Inlet Academy just outside of Soldotna from Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 27 to March 1.

There will be one berth for both the girls and boys to the Class 1A state tournament from Wednesday to Saturday, March 12 to 15, at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.

The Lumen Christi girls and Cook Inlet Academy boys won the titles last year.

Lumen Christi won last season for a fourth straight time and has moved up to the Class 2A level this season.

The CIA boys will be seeking their third straight conference title.

The girls tournament has three teams — top seed CIA, No. 2 Birchwood Christian and No. 3 Nanwalek.

The girls tourney opens with Birchwood and Nanwalek playing Thursday at 3 p.m. The winner plays CIA on Friday at 3 p.m.

The boys tournament has four teams — No. 1 Cook Inlet Academy, No. 2 Nanwalek, No. 3 Birchwood and No. 4 Holy Rosary.

The tournament opens Thursday, with CIA and Holy Rosary playing at 6 p.m., and Nanwalek and Birchwood playing at 4:30 p.m.

Game 1 — Birchwood vs. Nanwalek, 3 p.m.

Friday’s game

Game 2 — Game 1 winner vs. CIA, 3 p.m.

Game 3 — Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 6 p.m.

Saturday’s game

Championship — Game 2 winner vs. Game 3 winner, 11 a.m.

If-necessary game if Game 2 winner loses championship, 3 p.m.

BOYS

Thursday’s games

Game 1 — Cook Inlet Academy vs. Holy Rosary Academy, 6 p.m.

Game 2 — Nanwalek vs. Birchwood Christian, 4:30 p.m.

Friday’s games

Game 3 — Game 1 loser vs. Game 2 loser, 1:30 p.m.

Game 4 — Game 1 winner vs. Game 2 winner, 4:30 p.m.

Game 5 — Game 4 loser vs. Game 3 winner, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s games

Championship — Game 4 winner vs. Game 5 winner, 1:30 p.m.

If-necessary game if Game 4 winner loses championship, 4:30 p.m.
