After just concluding the Alaska Junior Golf Association Junior Masters Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, our schedule resumed Wednesday with the ladies league, men’s senior league and men’s night all played on a rainy Wednesday.

We would like to congratulate the juniors that competed in the AJGA Junior Masters and particularly congratulate the local junior golfers who did so well. Danica Schmidt won the Girls 14 to 18 division. Tait Cooper won girls 10 and under. Shane Sundberg won boys 10 to 12. Richie Lundahl III won boys 7 to 9. Katelin Richards and her sister, Anika, challenged the boys 13 to 15 division and Katelin won and Anika took third. These girls now live in Anchorage, but are former students and Birch Ridge members.

Ladies league was cut down to three players Wednesday due to the inclement weather. Competing was Louise Schadle, Mary McKenzie and Denise Cox. Mary McKenzie won both low gross and low net and Denise Cox won the mystery hole.

Third place went to Zayan Aberkane, Jake Eveland, Dave Mathison and Ryan Kapp with a 34. Pure birdie went to Darell Jelsma, while closest to the pin on No. 6 is a carry-over. Closest to at the eighth went to Steve Tachick and long drive went to Mike Hollingsworth.

Upcoming tournaments are the Seward Seahawks Booster Club Tournament on July 29. This tournament is a four-person scramble, if you would like to play or need additional information contact Kim Reierson at 907-224-3228 in Seward.
