Area swimmers compete in Homer, Kodiak

The Colony girls and boys swimming and diving teams swept the Homer Invitational on Saturday at Homer High School.

The Colony girls scored 122 points for the win, while Kenai had 82, Palmer had 76, Homer had 23 and Seward had 5.

For the boys, Colony had 190, Kenai had 78, Palmer had 34 and Seward had 3.

The Kenai girls got a victory from the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Abigail Price, Sierra Hershberger, Ra’ah Roady and Isla Crouse.

Price also won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Kardinals, while Emma Castimore won the 200 individual medley.

The Colony boys were able to sweep all of the events.

Soldotna swimmers compete in Valdez

The Soldotna swimming and diving team competed in a triple dual meet with Valdez and Kodiak on Friday and Saturday in Kodiak.

In the triple dual format, the three teams compete in a normal meet, then a computer calculates how each fared in a dual meet.

Friday, the Soldotna boys defeated Valdez 92-34, the Kodiak boys defeated Valdez 77-34 and the Soldotna boys defeated Kodiak 69-65.

Also Friday, the Soldotna girls defeated Valdez 72-53, the Kodiak girls defeated Valdez 78-50 and the Kodiak girls defeated Soldotna 81-58.

Saturday, the Soldotna boys defeated Valdez 103-33, the Kodiak boys defeated Valdez 73-38 and the Soldotna boys defeated Kodiak 84-60.

Also Saturday, the Soldotna girls defeated Valdez 82-50, the Kodiak girls defeated Valdez 79-24 and the Kodiak girls defeated Soldotna 75-71.

Saturday, the SoHi girls 200 freestyle relay of Lilly Dawley, Kylie Villa, Gen Sheldon and Zoe Burns won in 2:03.45. Sheldon also took the 500 free in 7:32.55 for the Stars.

Also Saturday, the SoHi boys 200 freestyle relay of Patric Wilcox, Owen Walker, Johnathan White and Michael Davidson won in 1:46.89.

Davidson won the 200 IM in 2:14.85 and the 100 free in 53.43, while Wilcox won the 100 butterfly in 1:09.34 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.03.

Friday, the SoHi girls also won the 200 free relay with Dawley, Dorothy Brown, Sheldon and Burns finishing at 2:05.87.

The SoHi boys also won the 200 free relay, with Davidson, Walker, White and Wilcox swimming 1:47.84.

Brett Haas won the 500 free in 6:53.52, while Wilcox won the 100 breast at 1:17.97.

Kenai boys, girls both placed third overall in the Kachemak Conference Wrestling Championships on Saturday.
