Area squads set for NLC softball tourney in Kodiak

A pair of state berths will be up for grabs Thursday through Saturday at the seven-team Northern Lights Conference softball tournament in Kodiak.

Homer won the first five conference tournaments, while Kodiak has taken the last two.

Last season, the Bears and Soldotna earned the two state berths at the double-elimination tournament.

The top-seeded Bears have a bye in the first round and will await the winner of No. 4 Palmer and No. 5 Houston on Thursday.
