The American Legion Post 20 Twins defeated the Post 35 Road Warriors from Wasilla on Saturday by a score of 2-1.
“I’m very proud of our players,” Twins head coach Robb Quelland said. “They didn’t lose sight of the game. They kept focus.”
Coach Quelland also said he thought a big standout in the game was the Twins starting pitcher Jack Harper, who almost went the distance but got taken out and replaced by Jayden Stuyvesant, who got the final out of the game.
That day wasn’t only important for the Twins because of the win, however, it was the anniversary celebration of 100 years of American Legion Baseball.
Vietnam War veteran and Purple Heart recipient Ron Laritz threw the ceremonial first pitch as part of the celebration.
Win or lose it was a very special day for American Legion Baseball.
