Umphrey’s McGee, Shakey Graves to headline Salmonfest 2022

The festival returns Aug. 5-7 in Ninilchik

The Kenai Peninsula’s hottest fish festival is back this summer. Billed as “3 days of fish, love, and music,” Salmonfest 2022 will be held from Friday through Sunday, Aug. 5-7 at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik. The annual festival, which helps raise money for salmon-related causes, returned last year in a modified format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organizers estimate that more than 8,000 people journey to Ninilchik each year for the festival, which this year will feature a daily children’s program and science symposium. Across four stages, more than 60 acts will perform for attendees, with headliners such as Umphrey’s McGee, Shakey Graves, Rising Appalachia and The California Honeydrops.

The performances are in addition to more than 100 art and craft vendors and “food & brews” from around Alaska. Also held this year will be the festival’s third annual Smoked Salmon Super Bowl Competition, during which smoked salmon from a variety of groups will be judged by a panel of tasters.

A variety of ticket packages, including discounts for seniors and teens, are available on the festival’s website. A weekend adult pass retails for $195 plus fees, although single-day tickets are available as well for $87 on Friday and Sunday and for $97 on Saturday. Bundled ticket options are available and offer discounted unit rates.

Spaces at the ARCHES campground are sold out for 2022, however, the festival provides shuttle bus service free to those with festival wristbands to other nearby camping areas. More information about festival camping logistics can be found at salmonfestalaska.org/camping/.

Salmonfest 2022’s full lineup, as well as ticket purchases and camping information can be found at salmonfestalaska.org.
