Police investigating a shooting that left two women dead Sunday morning now say there may be a connection between the two victims and a suspect, according to an update provided by the Kenai Police Department.

In the release, police said there appears to be “some association” between a possible suspect and the two victims. Police have not yet released the names of the victims, but said the two victims are related.

The shooting took place inside the residence.

Kenai Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday morning and left two women dead at a residence on California Avenue.

According to a press release from the Kenai Police Department, officers responded to the scene in the early morning hours, and preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect reportedly fled the scene.

The suspect has been described as a heavy set black male wearing a gray hoodie and orange cap and should be considered armed and dangerous.

KPD spokesman Lt. Ben Langham said that the names of the victims will be released once next-of-kin has been notified.

Police are looking for any witness with information, including surveillance video, to help determine what happened and to identify the suspect. Anyone with information about this incident should call the Kenai Police Department at 907-283-7879.
