A 74-year-old man was found dead at a remote residence southeast of Seward, Alaska State Troopers said Thursday.
According to a dispatch, Kurt Stenehjem was reported missing Sept. 14, when he was at a property on Little Johnstone Lake, roughly 30 miles from Seward. He had failed to meet a landing craft on Sept. 13 and had not been in contact with his family for several days.
A pilot from Moose Pass-based tour company Scenic Mountain Air was able to visit the residence and found Stenehjem dead, the dispatch says, but weather prevented troopers from arriving and recovering the remains until Wednesday, Sept. 17.
No foul play was suspected, the dispatch said.
