Cook Inlet senior awarded scholarship

Breona DeLon, a senior at Cook Inlet Academy, was presented a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps scholarship check earlier this month. The scholarship, which could amount to $180,000, is presented to students who submit an extensive written application, complete a physical test, go through rigorous interviews and go through a selection process.

“When I received the NROTC award I felt honored and accomplished,” DeLon said. “I know this is a prestigious award and I don’t take it lightly. It feels like all of my hard work, volunteer hours, challenging classes, and extracurricular activity has paid off. I am looking forward to college as well as serving my country in the Marine Corp.”

DeLon will attending Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, California.
