A pullout area on the west side of Bridge Access Road will be closed for construction until Sept. 30. Located near the Warren Ames Memorial Bridge, the area provides access to the Kenai River and flats.
The Alaska State Parks Design and Construction team will be installing an elevated walkway to allow safe access to the river, as well as paving the lot and adding parking. The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration via the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities.
While construction hasn’t started yet, a “closed” sign and construction equipment can be seen from the road.
