Two hikers were injured in a brown bear attack Wednesday, on Exit Glacier Trail in Seward.
According to a dispatch from Alaska State Troopers, they were told of the attack at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, after the two people had been admitted to the emergency room at an area hospital and reported that they’d been attacked by a brown bear.
The pair told troopers, the dispatch says, that they fought off the bear roughly a quarter mile up Exit Glacier Trail. The trail was closed by the National Park Service, but the dispatch said that troopers and local biologists would not search the area until “first light.” As of Thursday evening, no updates have been published by troopers.
“The public is advised to remain vigilant while outdoors and avoid the area for the time being,” the dispatch reads.
