Man arrested after police find gun, drugs during traffic stop

A Soldotna man on felony probation was arrested Monday after police reportedly found drugs, a gun and cash during a traffic stop.

On March 19, Soldotna police pulled over Joseph S. Lantz, 33, on suspicion that his car had overly tinted windows, according to a police affidavit filed with the court.

During a search of Lantz’s vehicle, police allegedly found a loaded pistol in the driver’s side door panel, 18.76 grams of crystal-like substance presumed to be methamphetamine, several yellow dime baggies, loose cash and an unused syringe. Lantz also reportedly had $2,427 in cash on him.

Lantz is on probation for second-degree felony theft and second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

He is facing charges of second-degree misconduct involving a weapon, a class B felony; second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, a class B felony; and third-degree misconduct involving a weapon, a class C felony.
