Pets of all shapes and sizes were welcomed at St. Francis by the Sea in Kenai on Sunday.

The church, along with Our Lady of the Angels, held the Blessing of the Animals and invited animals of all shapes and sizes to the church for the custom.

The ceremony is often held in conjunction with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, on Oct. 4, since Assisi was known for his love of animals.

Many dogs, and some cats, came through the church’s doors on Sunday, including pugs, poodles and golden-doodles.
