Willets to play soccer for St. John’s

Soldotna senior Simon Willets recently committed to play soccer for St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

Willets was the MVP of the Peninsula Conference in 2023. In 2024, he helped lead the Stars to the Division II state title — the first state title for the boys programs.

St. John’s plays at NCAA Division III in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Last season, St. John’s was eighth in the league at 3-6-1 (6-8-1 overall) and did not make the six-team league playoffs for the second time in the last 12 seasons.
