Wednesday: Soldotna baseball loses to Service

The Service baseball team defeated Soldotna 15-7 in six innings at the Buddy Dale Invitational in Wasilla on Wednesday.

The Stars continue with the tournament by playing West Valley on Thursday at 12:30 p.m. and Colony on Friday at 9:30 a.m. The Saturday game is determined by the results of the first three days.

Wednesday matched the winner of the 2024 Division I state tourney in Service with the three-time defending Division II champs in Soldotna.

The Stars gave up nine runs in the second inning as they fell to 0-6-1 overall. All of SoHi’s games have been against Division I competition so far.

Jett Brophy led the Stars at the plate by going 2 for 2 and scoring two runs while also notching an RBI.

SoHi used seven different pitchers on the mound, with five of the 15 runs coming up unearned.

Trenton Ohnemus gave up three runs — two earned — in 1 1-3 innings, Brenden Theel gave up six runs without getting an out, Jack Harper pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning, Colby Sturman gave up two runs — one earned — in an inning, Matthew Schilling gave up two unearned runs in an inning, Wyatt Gagnon gave up two runs — one earned — in 1 1-3 innings and Samuel Graham pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning.
