Monday: Oilers drop close one to Bucs

The Anchorage Bucs defeated the Peninsula Oilers 4-3 Monday in Alaska Baseball League play at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

The Oilers are 0-2, while the Bucs are 4-1.

Anchorage took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. The Oilers had a 3-1 lead in the top of the third, but Anchorage answered with three runs in the bottom of the third.

Petey Soto was 2 for 5 with a run for the Oilers, while Max Roffwarg was 2 for 4 with a run. Colin Robson also was 2 for 4.

Ryan Hughes took the loss for the Oilers, giving up three runs on three hits in two innings. He walked three and struck out one.

Max Sasaki gave up a run on three hits in five innings, walking two and striking out four.

Cameron Teper pitched the final inning, giving up just a hit while striking out one.

The Oilers move to Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak for a 6 p.m Tuesday game against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.

Peninsula’s first home date is June 18 at 6 p.m. against the Mat-Su Miners.
