Friday soccer: Homer boys top Nikiski; Kenai sweeps Redington

The host Homer boys soccer team defeated Nikiski 15-0 on Friday in Peninsula Conference action.

The Mariners are 1-1-1 in the league and 3-2-1 overall, while the Bulldogs are 0-3-0 and 0-3-0.

Homer head coach Tyler Jeffres wrote in a text message that 15 different players scored goals. Walden Krazeski and Gabriel Bradshaw combined for the shutout.

Nikiski head coach Horst Haunold wrote that Emily Brannen was a bright spot in goal, while Frank Nasibog once again had a solid game.

The Bulldogs had 11 players at the game.

“It is hard to play short-handed and Homer has a very good, disciplined team,” Haunold wrote.

Kenai girls 6, Redington 1

The visiting Kardinals picked up a nonconference win Friday.

The score was tied at 1 at halftime before the Kardinals dominated the second half to improve to 5-2-0 overall.

Katie Johnson notched a hat trick for the Kards, while Brynnen Hanson, Kate Wisnewski and Christine Goering also found the back of the net.

Kenai boys 6, Redington 0

The visiting Kardinals notched a nonconference victory Friday.

The Kards moved to 5-3-1 overall this season. The only goals Kenai has allowed this season are penalty shots or own goals.

Bradley Morrison registered the shutout for Kenai.

Zane James filled the net with three goals, while Tyler Jackman, Cole Langham and Diego Huerta added tallies. Brett Goldsby had two assists.

Kenai hosts Soldotna on Saturday, May 3, with the girls at 2 p.m. and the boys at 4 p.m.
