Homer football shuts out Voznesenka

The Homer football team defeated Voznesenka 55-0 on Saturday at Homer High School.
Homer, which started the season 0-3 but now has won four of five, reaches the postseason for the first time since 2012, when the Mariners lost the medium-schools title game to Soldotna.
The Mariners move to 2-1 in the Peninsula Conference and 4-4 overall. Voznesenka drops to 0-4 in the league and 1-6 overall.
Michael Swoboda had a scoring run and a catch from Teddy Croft in the first period, and Josh Fisk also had a scoring run for a 21-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Fisk and Heimbold had touchdown runs and Swoboda had a field goal for a 38-0 lead at half.
In the third quarter, Timmy Woo had a TD run and Chris Cudaback notched a safety. Hunter Patton finished the scoring with a TD run.
Croft completed all nine of his passes for 154 yards to lead the Mariners.
