Colony XC squads sweep Dieckgraeff Invite in Seward

The Colony girls and boys cross-country teams swept the Frank Dieckgraeff Invitational on Friday in Seward.

The Knights boys scored 43 to top the 72 of runner-up Kodiak. From the Kenai Peninsula, Homer was fifth, Soldotna was sixth and Kenai Central was seventh.

On the girls side, Colony had 34 while runner-up Soldotna had 52. Also from the peninsula, Seward was third, Homer was fifth and Kenai Central was seventh.

Palmer’s Fischer Adams won the boys 5-kilometer race at 16 minutes, 30 seconds, with Kenai’s Greg Fallon in second at 17:04.

Johannes Bynagle led Homer in eighth at 17:52, Noble Cassidy led SoHi in 15th at 18:16, Ridge Conant led Seward in 43rd at 19:41 and Eli Brigham led Nikiski in 64th at 22:17.

In the girls race, Colony’s Ella Hopkins won at 20:02, while Colony’s Morgan Ainsworth was second in 20:03 and SoHi’s Tania Boonstra was third in 20:06.

SoHi also received top 10s from Kathryn DeBardelaben in sixth at 21:17 and Sasha Brott in ninth at 21:42.

Hailey Ingalls led Seward in eighth at 21:40, Daisy MossWalker led Homer in 13th in 22:07, Emilee Wilson led Kenai in 23rd at 22:34, Adelyn McCorison led Ninilchik in 31st at 23:14 and Shelby Burman led Nikiski in 37th at 24:00.
