3 Brown Bears make college commitments

Former Kenai River Brown Bears players Jacob Zwirecki, Hunter Newhouse and Jack Anderson announced college commitments late in the week, according to the Brown Bears Facebook page.

Newhouse and Anderson are going to Division III Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, while Zwirecki is going to Division III Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Newhouse, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward from Minnetonka, Minnesota, came to the Bears early in the 2021-22 season. He played 48 games for the team and had eight goals and eight assists.

In 2022-23, he played 59 games for the Bears and had 10 goals and 23 assists.

Anderson, a 6-2, 185-pound defenseman from Orono, Minnesota, played 57 games for the Bears last season, scoring three goals and recording 16 assists.

Zwirecki, a 6-2, 203-pound defenseman from Eash Amherst, New York, came to the Bears at midseason this year. He played 25 games for the team, notching three goals and five assists.
