Shooting in Kenai leaves woman dead

A suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing

The Kenai Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one woman dead Tuesday afternoon, according to a Feb. 18 press release from the department.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 4th Avenue in Kenai. While police searched for the suspect, Kaleidoscope Elementary School was notified and placed in lockdown status.

A suspect has been taken into custody, but the investigation is still ongoing. Alaska State Troopers and a K-9 unit assisted in the investigation.
