68th Annual Progress Days events to take place this weekend

Soldotna will come alive with festivities this weekend for the 68th Annual Progress Days.

Hosted by the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, the main Progress Days parade and fair are set for Saturday, though the celebration includes events around town from Wednesday through Sunday.

The parade will follow its usual route, Soldotna High School up Marydale Avenue and then down Binkley Street before exiting at Shady Lane. Parade lineup starts at 9 a.m., and the parade starts at 11 a.m.

The parade will be followed by a block party from noon to 4 p.m. at Parker Park, with family activities, free food and multiple contests.

The Kenai Peninsula District 4-H Agriculture Expo will be held at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex from Friday through Sunday. There are barrel races on Friday at the Soldotna Rodeo Grounds and rodeo events Saturday and Sunday. There will be car shows at Kendall Ford and Hutchings Auto Spa. The Soldotna Saturday Farmer’s Market and Saturday Market at the Goods both will be open on Saturday.
