Stores create new hours for vulnerable population

Local grocery stores are creating more social distance for vulnerable populations to do their shopping.

Three Bears Alaska is offering seniors age 60 and older the chance to be the first shoppers in the store from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday, a Tuesday press release from the company said.

Carr’s Safeway stores across the state are opening their doors to senior citizens and other people who may be at risk to COVID-19, a Tuesday press release from the company said.

Shoppers can visit the store from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

COVID-19 is the disease caused by the new coronavirus that emerged in Wuhan, China, in late 2019. Symptoms for the disease include fever, runny nose, cough and breathing trouble. The elderly and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to the disease.
