Victor Mallari, 10, proudly displays the sockeye salmon his father caught in their dipnet on the north Kenai beach in Kenai on Sunday. The popular Kenai River personal use dipnet fishery opened Sunday at 6 a.m. and will be open until July 31. Hundreds crowded the beach Sunday, with many having good success catching sockeye salmon and flounder in their dipnets.
