An Ode to the Code

By Brent Johnson, Clam Gulch

Society has a creed

for young men to succeed,

they must have a valid ticket

of adequate etiquette.

Cover your mouth when you sneeze

don’t wear your pants at your knees

keep tidy your clothes

don’t be picking your nose.

It’s best to refer

to elder men as “Sir”

Keep your sex-drive in check

treat all women with respect.

Cigarettes aren’t jewels

and they make light of fools.

There are few things as risky

as beer, wine and whisky.

Let your deeds draw praise

don’t tattoo your face.

Most generally refrain

from expressions profane.

Its final big subject

states out in public

your cell phone should exist

somewhere not in your fist.
