Wednesday softball: Soldotna takes down Homer

The visiting Soldotna softball team defeated Homer 23-9 in five innings Wednesday in Northern Lights Conference play.

The Stars are 4-3 in the league and 5-8-1 overall, while Homer is 3-5 and 3-15.

Homer had an 8-4 lead headed to the fourth, but the Stars erupted for 13 runs in the fourth and six more in the fifth to end the game.

Isabelle Cruz got the win for Homer, going all five innings and giving up nine runs — six earned — on nine hits while walking four the striking out four.

At the plate for SoHi, Miah Mead had two runs and two RBIs, Alyssa McDonald had three runs, Kacey Cunningham had four runs, Lexi Stormo was 2 for 5, Cruz was 2 for 5, Kiara “KiKi” Forkner had two runs, Bailey Conner was 2 for 4 with four runs, Makynzi Deborski was 2 for 3 with three runs, and Londyn Deborski was 3 for 4 with three runs and four RBIs.

For Homer, Ariana Davis was 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs, Julie Guess had two runs, Emily Owens had two runs, Katelyn Cowdrey was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Becca Trowbridge was 2 for 2, and Lexy Sweeney was 2 for 3.
